Kitesurfing 101

Get out on the water and be tearing it up in no time

Teacher

Teacher's Notes

I am a kitesurfer with 7 years in the water and some (read: a summer of) teaching experience. I am happy to organize an intro to kitesurfing course. This would probably consist of a review of theory, gear, safety, process for learning, advice & Q&A.

It does not look like we have much interest in Kitesurfing 101 for next week….probably the cool weather coming on and the lack of wind. If people are interested in doing one in the next few weeks, let me know. If not, maybe let’s hold off until spring and the start of the windy season. That way you all can get in the water immediately and start ripping.

Yes, next Tuesday at 6pm at the Marina Green for kitesurfing 101 will work for me as well. How does that work with everyone?

Hey Dane, is there any chance we could do Tuesday? There’s another unclass on Straight Razor Shaving that was just scheduled for Monday … http://unclasses.org/classes/270

Sorry about the radio silence everyone, things have been hectic. I am still up for teaching the kitesurfing intro course if people are still interested. How does next Monday work around 6pm on the Marina Green?

Same here—everyday that week except Friday works fine for me too

I’m in! I can be there by 6pm on weeknights. Monday or Tuesday work best for me. Let me know if I can bring anything.

Sorry for the delay. I have been offline for the past week or so. Yes, if we get a trainer kite, I can teach flying basics. I am thinking that we have the class at the Marina Green (great place to fly a trainer kite) or Crissy Field where we could watch some kites in action. How does the week of the 21st of September work for everyone? As the wind blows best between 3:30 and 6, we should start as early as possible. Can people make 6pm?

If I borrow a trainer kite from a friend, could you teach some flying basics too?

Kitesurfing sounds intense enough for me! Let’s do it. Dane, let us know what we need to do to get the ball rolling!!

Killer! I’ve gone ahead and used some executive privilege to rename this class ‘Kitesurfing 101.’ If anyone here is still hankering for a windsurfing unclass, no worries… just create a new class :)

Awesome – thanks, Dane! I’m in this one for the kiteboarding theory. Windsurfing is sooooooo 2007.

Just kitesurfing is fine by me—I’ll take what I can get! Thanks Dane…

Hey everyone, I am a kitesurfer with 7 years in the water and some (read: a summer of) teaching experience. I am happy to organize an intro to kitesurfing course. This would probably consist of a review of theory, gear, safety, process for learning, advice & Q&A. I want to check interest as the course description is for kitesurfing & windsurfing and this course would only cover kitesurfing. Cheers!
