Intro to Ashtanga Yoga and Meditation (Ashtanga 101)

Class description:
Hey everybody.
I’m going to do a 10 week introduction to yoga workshop that is going to be fantastic and geared towards introducing people to a gentle ashtanga flow, connection to breath and a few approaches to meditation.
So if you were looking for a class to learn the basics, have fun and start to incorporate a bit of yoga into your life…this is for you and the space is fantastic.
Check out the Yoga Society space online at www.yssf.com. I’m going to be doing a sliding scale donation to YSSF for the space of $10 or so, nobody will be turned away for lack of funds.
Class breakdown
- breath awareness into warmup
- flow and form (standing and sitting)
- closing
- meditation and rest
Target is to end the class at 9:15-20 and let people wonder out as they come out of relaxation. (I know that 9:30 is pushing a bit late into the night).
Considerations before class:
- Try not to eat for an hour before class
- comfortable clothing for class and warm clothing for after class
- bring a towel
- Bring a mat if you have one. There are tons of mats and support equipment at YSSF
Teacher's Notes
I’m an avid ashtanga yoga practicioner with about 10 years of various yoga under my belt. I’ve been asked a bunch of times to do a basics class and I finally found a great space to do it.
I’m going to do a series of Wed classes at 7:45-9:30pm at the SF Yoga Society.
This is going to be geared for people new to yoga. It will be a slow flow and we’ll go at the pace that the class participants need to learn to heal themselves.
