Mindful Hooping
What is Mindful Hooping?
Its hooping.
Its meditation.
Its hooping and mediation!
The intent of this class is to use guided meditation techniques to increase mind-body connectivity in 2 ways.
In sports, meditation has been shown to reduce mental and physical anxiety caused by performance expectations while increasing concentration. Like in sports, in this class meditation will be used to quiet our minds and aid hoop flow. And by using ideas from Psychology/Buddhism we will also focus on increasing our emotional vitality to stress caused by daily living.
The class features lots of stretching, some hoop drills, and some movement exercises in addition to meditating. So it is preferable that you be able to hoop at the waist with some ease. If you are new to breathing meditation, no worries; instructions will be given in class.
Currently I am only doing this twice a month, so sign up now! If this class becomes popular I create more opportunities for people to participate.
Price is a suggested donation of $15-$20 per class but if you only have $1-$10 you will not be turned away.
Please send me an email or message if you want to attend a class or have questions.
P.S. I am still offering “Hula-Hoop Basics Class: Waist” classes. If you’re bummed that you can’t hoop well enough to take Mindful Hooping yet, or just think you can’t hoop, this is the class to take. We’ll go over the basics of waist hooping and moving with the hoop; plus you’ll also learn some tricks. And, we’ll also do some troubleshooting for when that d%$m hoop just keeps falling.
Classes are for 9/12 and 9/26
Time and Location: TBD
Teacher's Notes
I’m a hoop performer with two years of experience. I’ve performed at Mighty, Club Cocomo, and other popular venues in the Bay Area in addition to The Crucible’s Fire Arts Festival and Temple of Poi’s Union Square performance.
I look forward to helping you find your hoop flow. =)
