Drawing for Dummies - Alameda

sorry this missive is a duplicate for some of you – everything got transferred over to the other Drawing for Dummies page – don’t know who’s still interested so…..

Tonight’s class: drapery, ribbons, hats, and other awkward stuff. Don’t panic! Come and fool around.

TONIGHT’S LOCATION!
Frank Bette Center For the Arts
www.frankbettecenter.org
1601 Paru Street
Alameda, CA 94501-2527
(510) 523-6957
Take the 6:30 #19 bus from Fruitvale to Buena Vista and Paru, then walk south 1 block. FBCA is a big yellow Edwardian house on the corner of Paru and Lincoln.
Try this link:
http://tripplanner.transit.511.org/mtc/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?#tab1Selected

you could also try catching a bus from 12th street BART or something, but I don’t know that route.

Please email to let me know you’ll be at the Frank Bette Center tonight!
alana.dill@gmail.com
$5 per class meeting room rental (SLIDING SCALE! – if you’re broke, come anyway, we’ll figure something out)

Bring a sketch pad at least 10 × 12.

SHOPPING LIST:
1) Cheap / student grade Sketch book, at least 10 × 12, or white sketch paper or drawing paper. We won’t be doing any “final” finished drawings this class… only exercises.
2) Drawing pencils: H is for hard… B is for Soft. There’s your first lesson – go figure! Definitely buy 2H, HB, 2B, and 6B. Optional: 4H, & if can get hands on one, a reddish-brown painted graphite Berol Drafting #314 pencil
3) Good-quality pencil sharpener
4) “kneaded” rubber eraser (a grey wad)
5) optional: paper “stump” for blending graphite
6) NEW! “gray scale” card – at least 5 gradations, preferably 8 to 10, between black and the lightest gray.
7) NEW! Piece of mat board with a 3×5 or 4×6 hole cut in it to use as a viewer frame.

If you can’t come up with supplies last minute (been there!), show up on time rather than stopping to get them and coming late – we can share.

Hello Art Peeps –
We’re having our second “Drawing for Dummies” class tonight at Space Happy in Alameda. 7 to 9 p.m. (sorry this is a duplicate note for some folks). If you can arrange to come, we’ll be happy to see you! Please confirm to my email address, alana.dill@gmail.com

Heather – It depends on how many people continue to show up. Had 5 wonderful students the first night… I’m happy to continue so long as I have at least 3.

Note: you may need to look for it under “drawing for the daring” because so far, haven’t taught a single dummy!

I am super-bummed but I wound up having to take another commitment Monday nights for the next few months. I’d love to know if you plan to teach this again.

if you’re coming by BART, get off at Fruitvale and take AC Transit line #50 to Alameda’s Park Street. Space Happy is 4 doors down from Starbuck’s.

I just updated class notes – not sure if that pings all students directly, so please check Unclasses website for current information on supplies, curriculum, and our Mystery Location. We will be accessible by public transportation – with a short walk.

I am up for this! I may have the materials (or some of them) already. If you could publish a materials list I could see what I have.

Hi there – Your facilitator here… It would be ongoing over the course of 6 weeks, starting in January. Looks like Monday evenings are best for the most people. This would be in Alameda – 7 to 9 p.m. If people respond positively to this I’ll book a classroom – we could have as many as 15 students. I can assemble a kit and sell to you, or you can bring your own materials that you have on hand (there may be a few items you’ll need to purchase – for instance, art pencils, India ink, crow-quill pens – will create a shopping list and have it ready for first session). We may need to each pay a small fee for classroom rental, but I’ll keep it as cheap as possible. Invite other friends who may be interested as well.

Is this an ongoing class or just one session?
