How to brew your own Kombucha

Hey everyone! The Kombucha brewing class will be on Thursday August 20th at 7PM. Location is TBD in SF — likely in the Avenues. It’ll likely be short: only about an hour long, giving you ample time to go home and brew your own Kombucha.

You’ve seen Kombucha in the store:

It’s delicious and it’s good for ya, but it’s pretty ‘spensive, huh? Well it’s really easy, really cheap, and really fun to make yourself! It’s about as complex as making iced tea. You can play with your own recipes to make ginger, blueberry, or other delicious mixes.

At the end of the class, you’ll get a kombucha scoby to go home with to start brewing your own Kombucha. Please bring a sealable jar to take your scoby in! It’d be best to bring a mason jar:

A strong ziploc freezer-style bag could work in a pinch.

Hey Kombucha loving folks! I’m TERRIBLY sorry to do this but I’m going to need to postpone the Kombucha making unclass :( My best buddy (a chocolate lab named Professor Ripley P. Rippington) has been ailin’ pretty badly (he had the brilliant idea that a 3 inch fish hook would be a delicious and safe treat to eat — turned out he was wrong). At the moment I’m taking care of Ripley in Burlingame. I’m only in SF during the work day so I won’t be here to teach you to make Kombucha on Thursday night.

I’m super psyched that so many peeps are interested in this unclass (HOLY MOLY THERE ARE 40 PEOPLE SIGNED UP!!). I’ll definitely teach it soon but unfortunately it may have to wait until early October. SORRY!!! I’ll keep you posted. Don’t “unregister” from the unclass — I won’t SPAM you again until I know where+when the rescheduled class will be.

seriously? i just commented last week on how i wanted to learn. we should do some sort of potluck class: everyone brings over food, you teach us how to brew, then we eat and drink and be merry. eh?

Drinking Kombucha at work and thinking about this class…$3.50 a bottle for GT Dave’s is steep.
