that’s an excellent album. very heavy and meditative. I’ve got the mp3s and am happy to zip them up and share if anyone is interested.

another group of classically trained Persian musicians, The Shams Ensemble, came to SF awhile back. they had whirling dervish’s and everything — here a few videos from the performance you all may enjoy:

Nazeri Hafez was featured in Connections Magazine (where I read about him). His father translated a bunch of old Rumi poems into modern Farsi where they could work better together with traditional Persian music. This is the result!

So long as we stay under 8 people, we can hold this class in my apartment. I’ve updated the location accordingly. Please plan on chipping in to cover actual food costs. We’ll make enough food so we can all eat and have left overs!
